With the only double clear of the day Vivant and Chugg were foot perfect and deserving winners.

Chris Chugg and Vivant performed to their best to win the World Cup Final (Australian League) yesterday at the ISS Summer Show Jumping Classic, Horsley Park.

Chugg and his 12-year-old stallion were the indisputable favourites to take the title, having won 6 of the 10 World Cup qualifiers leading Sunday’s final. However it was never going to be easy to master the course built by acclaimed course designer Leopoldo Palacios (VEN). The competition was both a qualifier and selection event for the 2010 World Equestrian Games and Leopoldo built the toughest course seen in Australia this year.
Proving that they were more than up to the task Chugg and Vivant jumped both rounds without a single fault – the only combination to do so and were therefore were deserving winners of the class. Accentuating his dominance Chugg also claimed second place on the younger stallion ASB Conquistador.
Chugg will pack his bags for Europe early in the new year taking both of his stallions to compete in the World Cup Final in Geneva in April. His plan is to stay abroad gaining valuable international experience and hopefully selection on the Australian team for the World Equestrian Games in Kentucky (USA) in August/September. In the long term Chugg has London Olympics in his sights and then retirement for Vivant at home in Glossodia.
Finishing in third place was Paul Athanasoff and Wirragulla Nicklaus who incurred just 4 faults in both rounds. Fourth place went to Clem Smith on Dark Ages.
Hilary Scott of The Oaks, NSW, made the most of her final year in Young Riders by winning the Championship aboard Oaks Miss Scarlet. Tom McDermott of Wagga Wagga finished 2nd riding his newly acquired CP Rolex - a brilliant effort considering it was only their third show as a partnership. Third place went to  Emily Blinkworth  and her lovely mare CP Argentina.  At the conclusion of the class Emily handed Argentina over to Junior rider Monique Barrett who will now be lucky enough to enjoy the champion mare.
Tom McDermott won the Junior Championship on Sasskatoon beating Olivia Hamood of Kilcoy, Qld and Sophie Miller from Point Piper, NSW.
