EFA National Committee Elections

Franz Venhaus, National Office, Wednesday, 23 November 2005

The EFA is now asking Branch Discipline Committees for Dressage, Eventing, Jumping, Show Horse and Vaulting and Branch NCAS Committees to nominate members for their respective National Committees.

Following the EFA Annual General Meeting last weekend, the National Board, Shareholder (Branch) representatives and Chairs of the National Discipline Committees for Dressage, Eventing, Jumping and Show Horse (or their nominees) held a joint session to discuss the structure and functioning of these committees.

As elections are now overdue, the outcome was to immediately ask for nominations for the Committees using existing regulations, that is, Branches each nominate a member and an alternate and the members then elect a Chair.  The National Board also agreed to change the EFA Membership & Committee By-Laws to allow individual committees to propose new governance structures that might suit and improve their operations. When approved, committees who elected to do so could dissolve themselves and reconstitute under the new governance structure.

The EFA is now asking Branch Committees/Councils for the Disciplines of Dressage, Eventing, Jumping, Show Horse and Vaulting and for the NCAS to send in their nominations to the National Office by close of business Friday, 09 December 2005.  Following the establishment of Committee membership, Committee Chairs can then be elected.

You can download a complete Election Pack (PDF - 201KB) that includes a nomination form, a résumé template, extracts of the EFA Committee By-Laws and the position descriptions for members and chairs of National Discipline Committees.  You can also download the résumé template in MS Word format.

By the way, the name of National Discipline Committees (like "National Eventing Committee" or "National Jumping Committee") will be changed to "EFA Sport Committees" (like EFA Dressage Committee or EFA Vaulting Committee).
