Vale Anne Honner

EFA National Office, Friday, 24 February 2006

Earlier today we received the sad news that Anne Honner, a long serving and dedicated member, has passed away.

Over the past 30 years Anne has been an active member of the EFA, with significant involvement in the sports at every level. Anne’s passion and commitment to the Equestrian community is evident by the numerous qualifications and responsibilities that she accepted with pride. These included:
  • NSW Dressage Council Member (Dressage NSW)
  • Executive Member NSW Dressage Council (Dressage NSW)
  • FEI Candidate International Judge
  • EFA A-Level Judge
  • EFA Judge Mentor/ Educator/ Assessor
  • NCAS Committee Member
  • EFA NCAS Level 3 Dressage Coach
  • EFA NCAS Coach Educator/ Assessor
In addition to these duties Anne conducted seminars for Coaches, Riders and Judges, with many EFA Members gaining benefit from Anne’s generous nature and willingness to share her knowledge and love of Equestrian Sport.

Anne was also an FEI Dressage rider, enjoying successful partnerships with many horses including "Kings Crighton", "Sydney Symphony" and "Germaine".

Anne passed away at 6am this morning, having lost her battle with bone marrow cancer.

The Honner Family has sent the following message to us:

On behalf of the Honner Family we would like to thank the EFA and the many equestrian organisations that our mum was involved in for the wonderful send off that mum received on Saturday March 4.  Our mother wanted a celebration of her life - and the dressage community was a huge part of that. We are so grateful for the many people who attended, especially those old friends who stood up and said such funny and kind things about our mum, and about the contribution she made to the equestrian scene in Australia.  Thank you all for making mum's last big party such a memorable event. It was exactly what she would have wanted.

Thank you on behalf of Anne's children John, Philippa, Charlie and Samantha.
