EFA Showman of the Year

A new event and new international opportunities for young riders

This competition aims to promote rider development and provide a basis from which riders can move into other disciplines.
It also provides a new opportunity for ongoing international competition.

The event consists of four phases:

- Dressage Test
- Working Hunter Jumping Test
- Ridden Workout
- In-hand Presentation

In 2005 the inaugural International title was contested at the Ponies UK Summer Show. Riders from Australia, South Africa and the UK rode for the team title "International Showman of the Year" on pool horses.

In 2006 the competition was conducted in South Africa and also included a team from New Zealand.

In 2007, the Australian and International finals were conducted consecutively in Perth, WA. The international final was contested between teams from Australia, New Zealand and Singapore amidst the outbreak of Equine Influenza.
