All horses and riders who had accepted invitations to the pre-WEG training camp with Ulla Salzgeber have arrived in southern Germany. Chef d'Equipe Debbie MacNicol joined them this week.
As we can read in the local newspapers, Europe has been experiencing a heat wave but temperatures in Bad Wörishofen in Bavaria do not reach the same peaks as in lower north. Most training is done in the morning.
The training has been quite demanding. Some of the riders are looking forward to the weekends when they can support Ulla in her competitions. A few days ago, piaffe and passage "specialist" Ernst Hoyas (ex-Spanish Riding School) spent some time with the squad and apparently achieved spectacular results. Our riders were truly impressed.

This weekend, Matthew Dowsley and Cinderella competed in a "small" national show. With over 40 entries in the Grand Prix, riders apparently need to qualify via the Intermediate II. The good news is that Matthew won that class with 67.48% and then proceeded to winning the the Grand Prix with 68.4%. Congratulations, Matthew.
The "big" event before WEG is still to come. Next week, the squad consisting of (in alpha order) Matthew Dowsley and Cinderella, Kelly Layne and Amoucheur, Heath Ryan and Greenoaks Dundee and Rachael Sanna and Chatham Park Jac will travel to picturesque Tyrol in Austria and take part in the Fritzens CDI 3-Star near Innsbruck. The organisers of this the 10th Manfred Svarovski Memorial Horse Show have a great line-up of judges, most of them O-level, including Mariette Withages (BEL), Maribel Alonso de Quinzanos (MEX), Beatrice Bürchler-Keller (SUI), Ghislain Fouarge (NED), Victoire Mandl (AUT), Dr.Wojciech Markowski (POL), Uwe Mechlem (GER) and Katrina Wüst (GER).
