2018 FEI World Dressage Challenge

Expressions of interest are now open for the Australian leg of the 2018 FEI World Dressage Challenge to be held at Boneo Park 16 October 2018.

The FEI World Dressage Challenge is designed to create a ‘bridge” between the National level and the first FEI level of International competition. Australia competed for the first time in 2017 in the long running FEI competition with outstanding results in Zone 8 which included Hong Kong, South Africa, Taipei and New Zealand. Event Director Deb MacNicol said “a highlight was then sixteen year old Jamie Mita and Westewind winning the Intermediate 1 test, a wonderful effort from a rider so young in the highest level test offered.”  Australia also dominated in the Youth Class with Isabelle Luxmoore and Linus WK on top from Jasmine Haynes and Steendierks Champ of Glory.

Deb MacNicol also commented that “Australia were the closest of seconds to New Zealand as the most successful team in Zone 8, a mere 0.912 points behind. It was very exciting watching the results come in from all over the world.”  Forty countries world wide participated and Australia was a close third overall, 0.394 points behind Kyrgyzstan in second.

The event offers five performance levels and two age groups (12-16 and 16 years of age and above). Intermediate, Prix St Georges, Advanced, Medium and Elementary competitions will be staged and there will be two Classifications – Individual and Team.

The FEI World Dressage Challenge Competition classes are open to a maximum of 40 starters across all five classes with the Organising Committee and National Selectors to determine the number in each. The FEI World Dressage Challenge will be conducted on Tuesday 16 October 2018 at Boneo Park, Victoria.
