Aussies in Top 10 at Eventing Young Horse World Championships

Great results last weekend at the 2023 FEI WBFSH Eventing World Breeding Championship for Young Horses in Le Lion d’Angers (FRA) including two Australian combinations at the top of the leaderboard in the 6-year-old class. 

Since 2000, Le Lion D’Angers has played host to the most prestigious championship for young Eventing horses. The FEI WBFSH Eventing World Breeding Championship for Young Horses highlights the connection between breeding and performance and many horses that have competed in Le Lion d’Angers have gone on to excel at the top levels in the sport.

In the 6 year old division Isabel English and Cil Dara Bombay S put in a faultless performance to finish 5th overall on their Dressage score of 29.8. Only 5 combinations, in the field of 46, finished on their Dressage score. Cil Dara Bombay S  is an Australian Warmblood by Balou du Rouet x Cil Dara Duchess by Diarado, owned by Sarah English, Sofia Von Moltke and John and Jenny Curtis.

Kevin McNab and Wilfred Lancer also excelled in the 6 year old division finishing 7th. Sitting in 15th spot after the Dressage phase on 31.4 they went clear and under time in cross-country which saw them move to 11th place and was capped off  with clear jumping with only 0.4 time added. Wilfred Lancer is an Anglo European by Tangelo Van De Zuut Hoeve (Otangelo) x Evian De Hus by Conrad and is owned by Sofia Von Moltke.

Also in 6 year old class were Isabel English on Elysian Fields Prado, an Australian Warmblood by Diarado x Pamela owned by Sarah English, Sofia Von Moltke and John and Jenny Curtis who finished 27th on 40.3

In the 7 year old division we had the following results:

  • Katja Weimann and Baumann’s Dark Mark, a Westfalien by Douglas VDL x Hera by Heraldik XX and owned by Hofgut im Speß GmbH & Co. KG finished 20th on 36.4.
  • Kevin McNab and Faro Imp, an Oldenburg by F One USA x Vorbuch 1 by Master Imp and owned by Sofia Von Moltke finished 32nd on 44.4
  • Lissa Green and Go On Biatsa Selle Français owned by the rider, finished 37th on 45.6
  • Sarah Clark and Casallia S, A warmblood-thoroughbred cross by Casallco x Gold Jade by Jade Robbery and owned by the rider, Colin Clark, Gill Clark and Linda Clark finished 42nd on 51.0
