Australia wins silver at Fontainebleau

Australia has finished in the silver medal position at the opening round of the FEI Nations Cup Eventing series for 2015 held at Fontainebleau (FRA).

The team of Chris Burton (TS Jamaimo), Paul Tapner (Kilronan) and Kevin McNab (Casperelli) finished behind home nation France and just ahead of Great Britain.

The French were a strong contingent, winning the event with a score of 148.3.

Australia, who was in third position after the cross country phase, ended the event in second position after some strong show jumping rounds, led by Burton and Jamaimo who jumped clear which helped the team to an overall score of 178.0.

In a close finish Great Britain was only marginally behind the Aussies with a score 179.7.

Individually Burton finished in fifth place, Tapner 13th and McNab 18th.

Burton took to Facebook to express his delight.

“Great weekend with a PB for (Jamaimo) in the dressage and clear XC and SJ to finish in 5th place. The rest of the Aussie team had a great run too and we notched 2nd place for the first leg of the Nations Cup.”
