Dowsley dominates Day 1 of Sydney CDI

Matthew Dowsley dominated the opening day of the Sydney CDI winning three classes including the main event - the NSW Sport and Recreation FEI Grand Prix CDI3* (69.66%).

"I'm thrilled with all of my horses, it's not that often that they do things so perfectly all in one go," Dowsley said.

Matthew's Grand Prix winning mount Adloo Richard is owned by former top level rider Diane Jenkyn who held back tears shortly after the official presentation.

Di did all the ground work with the blood bay Warmblood gelding and took him to Prix St Georges level before handing him over to Matthew for the next stage of his career.

"It's so exciting to see Richard do that, I love Richard," Di said. "Matthew rides him so well and it was so emotional to see it all come together today."

Matthew is hugely thankful of the support from Adloo Richard's owner and long-time friend. "Di was at the top of the tree when I started and when she offered me the horse I was extremely proud," he said.

Dowsely’s day of domination kicked off with the Trailrace – Grand Prix (CDN), which he won on Don Desandro (owned by Cheryl Smith) with a score of 67.460%. Dowsley, then quinellaed the Jill Cobcroft – Prix St Georges (CDI3*). Wowing the Sydney crowd with a score of 73.632% & on AEA Prestige (owned by Denise Ceddia) and second place on Ferdinand MD (owned by Mathew Dowsley) with 70.395%.
