EA Special General Meeting

A Special General Meeting of the Equestrian Australia Board and Shareholders (State Branches) was held in Sydney on Sunday 19 April to discuss and vote on the motion put forward by Equestrian NSW and Equestrian Queensland which was:

That Equestrian Australia Limited immediately cease all action in relation to the introduction of any mandatory Hendra Vaccination Policy in respect of horses competing, or involved, in any event, competition or activity in Australia over which Equestrian Australia Limited or any of its Branches has jurisdiction and the Board of Equestrian Australia Limited be directed to cease all considerations relating to the introduction of a mandatory Hendra Vaccination Policy and to withdraw/repeal the Hendra Vaccination By-Law made by the Board of Equestrian Australia Limited.

All states were represented and the motion was put to the vote and the motion failed.

The meeting noted that the EA By Law was revoked in February 2015. All States agreed that the By Law should remain revoked.

The EA review into the Hendra vaccination will be concluded before any future decisions on a potential Hendra Vaccination Policy are decided upon.

Before any future recommendations on the Hendra Vaccination Policy are decided on, the Board and delegates of the States reaffirmed commitment to consultation with the membership and State Branches will be conducted.
