EOI for National Safety Officer in Eventing

Expression of Interest (EOI) for National Safety Officer in Eventing

Following the FEI Eventing Safety Forum in 2008, the necessity and importance for National Federations to set up a National Safety Program was agreed by all participants and as such, the FEI implemented rigorous safety reporting procedures. It was also established at that time that a National Safety Officer must be appointed for each National Federation involved in Eventing, who was to be responsible for the running and implementation of this program within their own Federation. Equestrian Australia, in following due process, would like to advertise this voluntary position for the next term.

The position description for the role of the National Safety Officer includes but is not exclusive to the below :

  • Act as the communicator between the FEI and the other National Federations' Safety Officers.
  • Continue to provide the FEI with the basic structure and information regarding the Australian Safety Program.
  • Maintain the medical reporting system within the AUS National Federation and provide the FEI with the relevant information.
  • Act as a liaison with the FEI on all reporting in regard to National level accidents (medical info to be made available).
  • Appoint Safety Coordinators for each international and national event (to be responsible for the establishment and coordination of medical services, including transportation of injured competitors. The Safety coordinator should not have any other duties during the Cross-Country phase).
  • Implement FEI forms for accidents at National events and appoint an Ad Hoc Committee for the inquiry and report back to the FEI in the case of a National fatal accident.

The appointment for this position will be a two year term. Please note that for this voluntary position, expenses for which reimbursement is sought are required to agreed upon before they are issued.

If you feel you are capable of performing these tasks and would like to contribute to the safety of our sport, please fill out the form below and return it to [email protected] no later than Friday 21 August 2015.
