How Tall Boots should fit ?

Fit is important when it comes to English tall boots. Find your perfect pair of high performance boots today at ariat.com.au

When buying new tall boots, it is important that they fit properly. A guide to a good fit :

  1. New tall boots should fit firmly over your foot without causing discomfort, this allows the boots to mould to your foot for a high performance fit. There should be approximately a thumb width from your big toe to the end of the boot. The boots should have slight room for movement around your heel and ankle. In addition to this you should be able to lift your heel approximately 1/2cm to 1cm in the boot.
  2. Initially, your tall boots should be difficult to tug on (and off), they will give slightly and mould to your feet and legs. If your new tall boots have zippers, you should be able to zip them all the way up and snap the closure at the top while standing. The boots should feel snug around your calf without cutting off your circulation. A good fit will be firm while still being able to fit an index finger into the boot.
  3. Your tall boots should fit right up into the bend behind your knee. As the boots flex and mould they will drop 1/2cm to 1cm for a comfortable fit.

If the riding boot fit is too loose, the boots will develop deep folds around your ankle that may press into your skin and cause friction. Also, if the boot is too loose, it will drop too much and be too short in height.

Taking the time to check the fit of your tall boots will ensure that your new tall boots will perform with you. We recommend visiting an Ariat stockist to be fitted for tall boots.
