List of Champions secured for this year’s Aus 3DE

An exciting line up of Olympians and World Champions has been announced for this year’s Australian International Three Day Event (Aus3DE) – the Southern Hemisphere’s most prestigious equestrian event – which will be held in Adelaide’s eastern parklands from November 13-16.

World Champion Sandra Auffarth, who won Gold at last month’s World Equestrian Games (WEG) in France and has a tally of Olympic and European Championship medals, will present a special dressage master class and a cross country course walk, plus will be involved in the on-course and radio commentary throughout the event.

Event Director Gillian Rolton says Sandra joins a stellar line up.

“Sandra is an outstanding talent and is at the peak of our sport right now, having won Gold individually and as part of the strong German team at the recent WEG, so she is an extraordinary role model for all riders, young and old!,” Gill said.

“She will join our other fantastic ambassadors, including Aussie Olympian and Badminton winner Sam Griffiths, German Gold Olympian and WEG winner Dirk Schrade and Aussie crowd favourite Chris Burton – the Olympian and WEG team member who won last year’s AI3DE.

“The trio will present a cross country master class at the Victoria Park Main Arena at the completion of cross country on the Saturday afternoon.

“Meantime Chris’s WEG teammate and previous Badminton winner Paul Tapner plus triple Olympic

Gold medallist Andrew Hoy OAM will join us as ambassadors.”

Other top riders coming to the 3DE include:

  • Beijing Olympics Silver and two time WEG representative Shane Rose
  • Beijing Olympics Silver and 2006 WEG team Bronze winner Sonja Johnson
  • Beijing Olympics Silver and 2005 Melbourne and AI3DE winner Megan Jones

For many other riders, the event will be the chance to prove they have what it takes for the upcoming Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.

Riders will compete in a packed schedule of competition, with dressage on Thursday and Friday, cross country on Saturday and show jumping Saturday evening and Sunday.

The event also includes Friday evening’s Grant Burge Polo in the Park, premium food and wine packages, food trucks, VW Bars, kids’ activities and shopping, and is the only event of its kind in the world to be held within a city.
