Melbourne International Three Day Event prepares to Ride the Excitement

In just under two months time, Australian riders and their horses from far and wide will make their way down to the grounds of Werribee Park to battle it out with the best at the 2015 Melbourne International Three Day Event.

Entries have officially opened to CCI***, CCI**, CCI* and CCIJ* classes for the traditional Queen’s Birthday Weekend event held at Werribee Park and the response has been incredible.  Entries to the Young Eventing Horse classes are anticipated to open within the week, adding greater value and entertainment for competitors and spectators.

Event Director and Eventing Chair of Equestrian Victoria, Janet Houghton has received an abundance of support to make this event come to life in the first weekend of June.

“We’re working very hard to ensure this event lives on. We have both local and interstate riders expressing their excitement in anticipation of the event”.

Not only have we received the riders backing, the sponsors and traders have been quick to jump on board, with the trade village selling out prior to any advertising.

The event is going into its 58th year, which is a great achievement for this sport and we want to make sure everyone continues coming back each year.“

Working with Janet behind the scenes, a group of dedicated eventing individuals, mostly made up of volunteers, have been helping to develop the event. Some industry based big name sponsors have come on board including Pryde’s EasiFeed, Horseware Ireland, Racing Victoria Off The Track, Bates Australia, Promectin Plus Mini and Equissage Therapy.

Organisers have secured Gillian Rolton (Australia), Cara Whitham (Canada) and Lyn Roycroft (Australia), who comprise the Ground Jury for the CCI2* and CCI3*.  Ewan Kellett will design and build the cross country course and Gavin Chester is the show jumping course designer.  The event is positioned as one of the best FEI affiliated Eventing weekends in Australia.
