POSTCARD Bill Levett en route to Germany

POSTCARD is a new High-Performance series on our website. It is a way of highlighting the tremendous dedication and capturing the personalities of our riders & horses competing around the world.

"As I write this I am sitting in Geneva airport en route to Wiesbaden for the second leg of the ERM series. It was not long back that I was at the first leg at Chatsworth in Derbyshire UK. The first leg went off with a bang with world class combinations fighting for the win, and all three phases being influential, which for my money is the most enjoyable Eventing as it is good sport until the end. In the first leg I was riding Shannondale Titan, in the last phase( the Xc ) we were in 7th trying to climb for a podium finish, but about three fences from home he put his hind leg in a ditch and we both came to grief.

Hoping to string all three phases together this time. Alfie (Shannondale Titan) was a little stiff, so after a few days R&R he is back on form. Alfie is lining up again for the second leg,  and has had a light Xc school and a good show jumping lesson and one gallop and he come through all this well.

Alfie should have come on in his fitness from his  Chatsworth run, so feeling hopeful for a top three finish. I was anticipating an easier Xc course than Chatsworth, but a little bird has told me that is not the case and the Xc is fast and furious, thankfully Alfie is experienced so have a decent chance of jumping around. So the stage is set and let's hope team Levett has a good couple of days."
