Sydney International Horse Trials Restarts

The two and three star classes at the Sydney International Horse Trials restarted Friday following the cancellation of last weekend’s event due to the tragic accident that resulted in the death of Caitlyn Fischer.

After careful consideration and consultation with riders, officials and volunteers, The Sydney International Horse Trials Organising Committee decided to offer riders who had entered the three and two star events the opportunity to restart this weekend.

At the end of the Dressage phase Shane Rose leads both the CCI3* and CIC3* classes, riding the horses Shanghai Joe and CP Qualified.

In the CCI3* Sonja Johnson and Parkiarrup Illicit Liaison trail Rose and Shanghai Joe by less than a penalty. Rose currently has 44.20 penalties while Johnson has 44.90 penalties. Hazel Johnson riding Clifford is third with 47.30 penalties.

In the CIC3* it is Rose and CP Qualified who leads Judy Clarke and Diablito. It is also tight at the top in this class with there being less than a penalty between the two. Rose carrying 38.60 penalties into Cross Country while Clarke has 38.90 penalties. Stuart Tinney and Pluto Mio are third with 39.70 penalties.

In the CCI2* Katja Weimann riding BP Escapade lead with 42.20 penalties, Shenae Lowings and Venture Sky High are second with 44.20 penalties and Emma Bishop riding CP Issey Miyake are third with 44.90 penalties.

In the CIC2* Gemma Tinney and Annapurna are in the lead with 43.40 penalites, Jessica Rae riding Rascal are second with 44.80 penalties and Katie Taliana and Friday Street round out the top three with 45.90 penalties.

Cross Country begins Saturday at 10am and spectators are welcome to attend.

Following Sunday’s Show Jumping phase a minute’s silence will be held to remember Caitlyn Fischer.
