Tinney takes the 3 Star at Wallaby Hill 3 Day Event

Stuart Tinney and 'Queen Mary' came through with a triumphant win in the 3 star at Wallaby Hill International 3 Day Event over the weekend with 64.20 penalties. Leader after cross-country, Shanae Lowings and 'Ballyhoo' took second place with 68.40 penalties and Soigne Jackson and 'Warrego Collateral Damage' took third position with 72.30 penalties. It was a nail-biting finish with the Show Jumping round proving significant in sorting out the final order. Rising up through the field, Stuart Tinney was one of only 4 clear Show Jumping rounds on Sunday.

In the CCI 2* class, Annabel Armstrong and 'Quaprice' started strong with their Dressage Test on Friday, and while the rest of the quality field tried hard to pull them back in the following events, the combination continued on to have a successful finish, clearing both their Cross Country and Show Jumping round. Armstrong and Quaprice finished on 50.20 penalties, taking the title ahead of Rebel Morrow aboard 'Belreive Ice Queen' on 59 penalties and Laura Wallace and 'Van Heck' on 72.90 penalties.

In the CCI 1* class, the evergreen Heath Ryan campaigned 'Wimbourne Constable' to 47.30 penalties over the three days to hold out, by a single penalty point, Isabel O'Loughlin and Largoes Choice with 48.30 penalties and in third place, Rachel Lee and 'Urodel Du Texier'.

A success for Jessica Rae and 'Alabama' who finished the weekend with the 2016 EvA105 Div A Champions title. After opening their account with 46.50 penalties in the Dressage phase they travelled beautifully across the Cross Country track, and came home without time or jump penalties against their score. In the final Show Jumping phase, Rae and Alabama flew the jumps, smoothly and coolly taking each in their stride, a joy to watch. Hamish Cargill and 'Snowmoose' took second position with 48.30 penalties and the overnight leader, Craig Barrett and 'Bloomsbury Sir Galahad' slipped back to third place after a rail and a time penalty were added to their score in the Show Jumping phase.

Congratulations to all riders and horses who competed over the weekend and don't miss the 2017 edition of the Wallaby Hill International 3 Day Event from 1-3 December 2017.
