Jamie Hocking (AUS) finalist 2016 World Championships male Individual, sharing his knowledge at the clinic

Vaulting NSW Clinic

Vaulting NSW strategic plan highlights the development of vaulters, officials and volunteers. To meet this goal, VNSW conducted the second of two clinics in 2016. The October clinic was held from the 1st to 5th October, targeting Vaulters, judges, and volunteers.  This clinic was attended by sixty-five people, with Emma Seely (USA), and Matthias Lang (France) providing expert advice in all aspects of the sport.

The first two days focused on High Performance aspects of vaulting, this gave the top vaulters the opportunity to come together with Emma, Matthias, and Australia’s HP Vaulting manager, Dr Tristyn Lowe, to train in the specific aspects of the higher levels of the sport.  It also gave the judges and trainee officials the opportunity to participate in a mock competition at the end of the two days enabling them to test their newly acquired knowledge.

The second part of the clinic gave vaulters from all levels time with international clinicians who were supported by a selection of Australian coaches and high level vaulters. The final day of the clinic focused on the development of squads. Three squads from around the state worked on developing their freestyles to an international level. Feedback from participants was strongly positive and we need to thank Equestrian Australian and Vaulting NSW for supporting this event.
