[VIDEO] Shane Rose, ambassador of the Sydney International Horse Trials

At the beginning of March, #SydHT introduced the 4 Ambassadors of the 2015 Sydney International Horse Trials : Shane Rose, Teegan Ashby, Dave Cameron and Jess Brown.

Here is the video of the third ambassador Shane Rose.

Shane has two sisters and one brother, all older than Shane. All the Rose kids rode from a very young age and went to Pony Club. He learnt to walk, trot, canter and jump with his shetland pony Mickey Mouse and won his first blue ribbon on Tinker. At the pony club, Shane would take part in everything, from mounted games to showjumping and eventing. In 1994, when Shane was 21, he realised his first goal, representing Australia in the Young Rider Trans Tasman competition with Mr Joe Cool. They won both the NZ Young Rider One & Three Day championships and the team won the Young Rider Trans Taman trophy for the first time. In 1998, Shane went to Rome with It’s A Knockout (Josh) and rode at the World Equestrian Games (WEG) as a member of the Australian team. In 2003 he opened an equestrian facility called Bimbadeen Park with his wife Niki (an eventing rider also) in Werombi, NSW, Australia. In 2008, Shane and his horse ALL LUCKY were selected for the Beijing Olympic Games and claimed silver as part of the Australian team. Since then, Shane has been selected to ride in another two Australian teams, firstly at the 2012 London Olympics with Taurus and then again at the 2014 World Equestrian Games in Normandy, France. The team successfully qualified Australia a place at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games, and along the way proved that Australian riders really are the best cross country riders in the world after Australia was the only country to have all its riders home safe and clear cross country. Shane is now working toward qualifying his team of top horses for the 2016 Rio Olympic Games, with the ultimate goal of once again representing his country. #RoadtoRio #GoAUS

Held at the Sydney International Equestrian Centre 1-3 May, #SydHT is unique in that it hosts top level competition in two equestrian disciplines, Eventing and Show Jumping.
