Stuart grew up mustering cattle on his family property in Gladstone Queensland. Today Stuart is the maestro of modern cross country riding.  Stuart received an Australian Sports Medal and a Medal of the Order of Australia in 2001 after the Australian eventing team’s success at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. Stuart was also inducted into the Sport Australia Hall of Fame in 2003. Stuart and his wife Karen live in Sydney's north-west with their daughter’s Jaymee and Gemma who also compete in eventing regularly.
