18 December 2025 Equestrian Australia Special General Meeting - Update for Members
We wanted to update members on the Equestrian Australia (EA) Special General Meeting (SGM) held on 18 December 2025. EA Chair Nicholas Ballard convened the meeting with the support of Vero Voting, an independent organisation that conducts AGMs and manages voting.
What happened
EA is committed to member engagement in governance matters and fulfilled its role of convening a valid SGM by abiding by the Corporations Act and the EA constitution.
Vero Voting confirmed that the meeting met the quorum, which involves the participation of more than 961 members. With a quorum present, the meeting proceeded to a vote on the resolutions outlined in the meeting agenda.
As a result of the member vote, EA directors Rhett Oliver and Stephanie Lyons will leave the Board with immediate effect. The Vero Declaration of Results is attached.
The SGM provided a platform for members to express their views. The Equestrian Australia Board remains committed to working collaboratively with State Branches and National Discipline Committees to strengthen governance, improve financial sustainability and deliver better outcomes for members across the country.
Next steps
To fill the vacancies, the commencement of the recruitment of the four appointed director positions on the EA Board will begin and be confirmed early in 2026.
The positions will be filled through a process overseen by the independently chaired EA Nominations Committee, ensuring that candidates reflect the skills and breadth of the equestrian sport community across Australia.
The Board may choose to fill the elected director position with a recommendation from the Nominations Committee prior to the 2026 Annual General Meeting.
The EA Board is committed to keeping members updated about the appointment process.
