202 Australian Jumping Championships a great success
The 2025 Pet Circle Australian Jumping Championships, held from 5–9 November at Boneo Park in Victoria, showcased the strength, depth and future promise of Australian Jumping. Across five days of competition, riders from across the country delivered outstanding performances, with several familiar names reinforcing their dominance and emerging stars announcing themselves on the national stage.
New South Wales rider Tom McDermott claimed his fourth Australian Senior Title, adding another impressive achievement to his already remarkable record. Riding Oaks Ventriloquist, Tom delivered a series of precise, fault-free performances across the championship to secure the win in a world-class field. From the opening round in the final, Tom set the pace with strong performances aboard both Oaks Ventriloquist and Cooley Gangster. His consistency and composure under pressure were unmatched, and his performance demonstrated the experience and skill that continue to set him apart. His win further cements his reputation as one of Australia’s finest senior competitors.
Charlie Magnier produced an exceptional display to claim the Australian Junior Championship, completing a rare double after also securing the Young Rider Title the previous day on Notre Dame De Bourguignon. Riding Ogano, Charlie dominated throughout the rounds, maintaining a perfect record and confirming his place as one of the sport’s brightest young talents.
Victorian rider Eliza Abrahams claimed the Australian Children’s Championship with a polished performance aboard Emcee Street Wise. Entering the final carrying three penalties, she delivered two clear rounds under pressure to secure the national title.
In the Turiya Farms Mini Prix Championship, Victorian rider Jack Barker closed out the Championships with a strong victory aboard Cornets Prinzess. Their double clear performance earned them the title and was the perfect way to conclude a week of high-quality competition. 18 year old Jack’s victory reflects his dedication and hard work in the sport over the years.
In the Future Stars final it was going to be a tall order for the last combination out, Sam Williams and Bellatrix VP, to beat the time set earlier in the jump-off by Frida Lindgren and Threemc Lumeah, however, having won the second qualifying round on the Friday, everybody knew they were a chance and they certainly did not disapoint - claiming that championship in style.
The 2025 Australian Jumping Championships provided a showcase of both seasoned excellence and emerging promise. From Tom McDermott’s continued dominance at the top level to the impressive rise of riders like Charlie Magnier, Eliza Abrahams and Jack Barker, the Championships highlighted the health and depth of talent in Jumping in Australia.
Boneo Park Equestrian Centre once again delivered an exceptional setting for national competition, combining world-class facilities with an atmosphere that continues to inspire both riders and spectators. Congratulations to all riders, owners, grooms and support teams who contributed to another outstanding Australian Jumping Championships.
