Australian Showjumping Championships 2015

David Cameron and RR Dyranta are the Australian Show Jumping Champions for the second consecutive year after edging out an all class field at the 54th staging of the Australian Show Jumping Championships (ASJC) at the Werribee Equestrian Centre.

In a close fought battle that came down to the wire, Cameron and Dyranta defeated runner-up combination Steven Hill and Yalambi's Bellini Star by a single point. Hill ensured spectators were kept on their seats right until the last moment by winning Sunday’s Grand Prix, in which Cameron finished second. Cameron’s earlier results from the first two qualifying classes giving him the overall victory.

Overall third place went to Merrick Ubank riding Alantinus. Current leader of the Australian World Cup leader board, Chris Chugg took fourth and fifth places with his two horses Cristalline and Cera Cassiago, his very beautiful 8yr old imported Holsteiner stallion. Chris has recently stepped this horse up to World Cup level with huge success placing second at Gatton World Cup and winning back to back World Cups at Caboolture, Gawler and Adelaide.

The ASJC was lucky to secure internationally renowned Course Designer, Leopoldo Palacios from Venezuela, who has much experience designing courses in Australia as the designer of  Sydney Summer Classic.

Earlier in the day Nicole Bruggemann won the 2015 Australian Young Rider Title on Marine and also took out the Young Rider Grand Prix. "I can't describe how much I love my team of horses! The star of the team was Marine jumping his little white socks off! Today he jumped a faultless double clean over a very tough and tall track to not only win the young rider Grand Prix but to also win Australian Young Rider Champion. I can't thank him enough for being such a fantastic horse!". Savanna Hopkinson on her mount Zenzation arrived second and Mitchell Peulic CW Conquest finished third.

The 2015 Australian Junior Champion was won for the second consecutive year by Jasmine Dennison on her already crowned Bubble and Squeak. "I was very excited to win after such an amazing competition. There was some great riding and Jock and Maddie were especially close. I'm very proud of my wonderful horse and I love the connection we have developed. I want to thank my coach Laurie Lever ; I know I'm lucky to have his experience and knowledge and wins like this one couldn't be achieved without him. The organisers keeping making the this event bigger and more special as a show, so it is fantastic to have this success and have the chance to thank them as they are the same people in our state who help develop our junior riders all year round." In another close contest, second position went to Jock Rice-Ward on Kiwi Guard who went head to head for the title with Dennison after both finished the regular competition on equal points. Dennison securing her second title in as many years after producing a clear jump off round while Rice-Ward had one rail down. Madeline Sinderberry with her  talented Fernhill Zinzan who also arrived first in the 7 year old Championship that day, finished third in the overall standings. Rider Cade Hunter on his horse Kelstar won the Junior Grand Prix.

Another beautiful moment in the day was when Ally Lamb received the Katherine Quilty Memorial Leading Lady Rider - a sentimental win for Ally who is a close friend to Katherine and her family.
