Board Update - February 2026

As we move further into the year, the Board remains focused on strengthening the foundations of our sport while continuing to plan for its long term future.

National Strategy Workshop
Following the recent National Strategy Workshop, we are progressing work aligned to the agreed strategic direction. The workshop brought together national and state leaders to ensure we are united in our vision, priorities and the practical steps required to deliver meaningful change.

A key focus was ensuring that the future structure of the sport is member centred, financially sustainable and clear in its roles and responsibilities. Outcomes from the workshop will continue to be communicated as implementation milestones are reached.

Policy Updates
At the EA Board Meeting earlier this month, the Board approved an updated Code of Conduct and an updated Complaints, Disputes and Discipline Policy. These will take effect from 1 March. These updates are an important part of ensuring our governance framework remains contemporary, fair and transparent. Members will receive further communication outlining the key elements and what they mean in practice.

We have also approved an updated Conflicts of Interest Policy. This policy applies to all Board Directors, Board Sub Committee members including National Discipline Committees, and staff. Maintaining clear and consistent disclosure processes is essential to good governance and to preserving the trust of our members.

National Discipline Committees
The Board has approved new National Discipline Committee appointments and we welcome the new members who have agreed to serve. These committees play a critical role in supporting athlete pathways, rules, education and discipline specific planning. We thank all committee members for their time and expertise.

EA Member Portal Rollout
The continued rollout of the member portal was discussed, including member feedback and the next stages of implementation. We recognise that system change can be challenging and we remain committed to supporting members, clubs and officials through the transition. Further communications and guidance materials will be shared in due course.

Financial Position and Outlook
The Board reviewed Equestrian Australia’s current financial position and outlook for the next 12 months. Maintaining financial sustainability remains a priority as we balance operational requirements, strategic investment and support for our disciplines and members. Careful planning and disciplined financial management will underpin our decisions throughout the year.

We thank our members, volunteers, officials and staff for their continued commitment to equestrian sport in Australia. The work underway is designed to support a strong, sustainable future for everyone involved in our community.
