Dressage Royalty Claims Another Crown at Dressage by the Sea CDI4*

Rozzie Ryan and Jarrah R, her 12-year-old Australian warmblood gelding, became the first-ever Grand Prix Special Champions at Dressage by the Sea CDI4*, the first of its kind competition in the Southern Hemisphere.

Rozzie and Heath Ryan, the dynamic, Newcastle-based hubby and wife team are Olympians, Australian title holders, trainers, breakers, teachers, coaches, breeders, and mentors across Dressage and Eventing in Australia and there’s practically nothing that these two haven’t achieved. But this latest win belongs to Rozzie who said, “Heath is at home working to pay the bills.”

On board Jarrah R, Rozzie set a strong score that would go on to challenge the other combinations and would go right down to the wire to see if they would be able to hold on and claim the title of first-ever Grand Prix Special Champions. At the presentation ceremony, Roz said, “I hadn’t even thought about the significance of the title. Yes, what a thrill for us to add such an honour to our record!”

Wrapping up the day in the Otto Sport Grand Prix Arena, the Queensland combination of Jayden Brown and Lauren George’s 8-year-old gelding, DaVinci L, made it three for three wins with a stunning Freestyle program that earned an overall score of 74.450%. They kept Bawley Point’s own Brett Parbery on Terry Snow’s Sky Diamond, with 73.550%, at bay. Coming in third was Michelle Baker and her 10-year-old Australian warmblood gelding Bradgate Park Puccini.

This week saw some truly outstanding Dressage in front of large, appreciative crowds who were gathered to celebrate this inaugural CDI4* event.

Today is the final day of competition in week one of this two-week Dressage competition. We will see the completion of the young horse competition with a full event program.  We have seen some quite extraordinary young horses in the 4-year-old, 5-year-old and 6-year-old age groups and it will be fabulous to watch these horses in the arena once again in the incredible atmosphere of the Willinga Park indoor arena.

We also have Freestyle presentations from our young, junior and under 25-year-old riders and we are thrilled to have Paralympian Emma Booth and her magnificent Zidane on the Otto Sport Grand Prix Arena for a special demonstration ride at 12.20pm. Don’t miss this, it’s certainly one of the highlights of the week. Here's a little insight into her training that’s been viewed more than 6.5 million times:https://www.facebook.com/equinl.equinl/videos/2536815019680736/?t=0

Emma is a superstar in the equestrian world and one of the most inspirational people you’ll ever meet. A down-to-earth Aussie, with aspirations and dreams as big as you can imagine. We know she’ll get it done. Come and watch her ride, say g’day and get a selfie with a superstar.
