EA High Performance Program to Farewell Leigh Clifford

Equestrian Australia today announces that the EA High Performance Program (HP) will bid farewell to Leigh Clifford, Chair of the EA High Performance Panel, following his decision to step down after more than five years at the helm.

Throughout his tenure Leigh has not only provided guidance and wise counsel to the HP Panel but has also ensured the HP Program remained focussed on sustaining podium success throughout the global pandemic and the EA Voluntary Administration process.

The HP Program has achieved numerous accomplishments under Leigh’s leadership, including the qualification of all three Olympic disciplines for Tokyo 2020 at the 2018 World Equestrian Games, the delivery of two Olympic medals, history-making performances at the Paralympic Games and three Oceania Championship gold medals.

Leigh leaves a remarkable legacy in the form of a strong operational Program that will ensure the next generation of athletes have the opportunity to experience a world-class HP Program, with the Australian Institute of Sport confirming ongoing investment for the next two cycles.

EA High Performance Director, Chris Webb, said:

Leigh will officially step down from his role as Chair of the EA High Performance Panel end of March 2022, however has agreed to assist throughout the transition period until a new Chair has been appointed.
