New record for Boyd Exell in Aachen

Never before a four-in-hand driver managed to win every single competition at the CAIO Aachen.

But Boyd Exell is no common athlete and driver. Our Reigning World Champion won both dressage competitions, the Top Score Competition, was the fastest in the marathon, and even won the Jump & Drive competition on Saturday evening with his team of 2 show jumpers and and eventer, composed of Chris Burton, Cassio Rivetti (Ukraine) and Guy Williams (UK). On Sunday, Boyd concluded his weekend by winning the final obstacle driving class.

Boyd was very pleased with his marathon performance: “In the beginning I tried to drive smooth. The footing was very slippery and my outside leader wasn’t performing well. We made some adjustments and after that the team started to feel good again. This is really a super team, the horses have the power to go until the very end.” Boyd stayed ahead of Ijsbrand Chardon (Netherlands) and Chester Weber (USA) and won the Aachen-title for the seventh time in his career: “The team behind me, including my sponsors, has been excellent again this week,” Boyd said to Driving specialist website Hoefnet .

After being the FEI Athlete of the Year 2015, Boyd also got the Award of the Driver of the Year. As every year the presentation of the 2015 Driver of the Awards took place following CHIO Aachen. Boyd was presented with the bronze statue and FEI plaque.

Cant' wait for the FEI World Four-in-Hand Driving Championships in September in Breda (Netherlands) !
