Parbery back in top form with win in EquiFest Grand Prix

On Friday March 31, Hawkesbury Showgrounds in New South Wales saw nine of Australia’s top horse and rider combinations compete in the first Grand Prix competition of the 2017 season, the EquiFest Mustad Grand Prix.

In what was their first Grand Prix start since returning from Europe last year, Brett Parbery riding DP Weltmeiser displayed an outstanding performance to win the class with an impressive score of 69.13%.

Rozzie Ryan riding the ever-consistent Jarrah R placed second with 67.30% and Mary Warren riding Mindarah Park Ramadan were in third place scoring 66.67%.

Matthew Dowsley and Don Desandro scored 64.967 to secure fourth spot and Rozzie on board her second nomination Adonie scored 63.667 to round out our top 5.

On Saturday afternoon, spectators to EquiFest were treated to the Cutcliffe Properties Grand Prix Freestyle class.

Featuring some of Australia’s top horse and riders, the class also saw some new combinations to this level including Mary Warren's Mindarah Park Raphael' doing their very first Grand Prix Freestyle and Rozzie Ryan's stunning Adonie doing just their second Grand Prix Freestyle.

The judges awarded top honours to Rozzie Ryan and Jarrah R with Rozzie and her second nomination 'Adonie' scoring a very impressive 68.083% placing second.

In third spot was Robbie McKinnon riding Robali Razzamatzz with a score of 68.067% just enough to hold out Mary Warren on the first of her two nominations, Mindarah Park Raphael with a score of 67.742%. Mary also placed fifth on Mindarah Park Ramadan' scoring 66.242% and rounding out the top six was Alycia Targa and CP Dresden.

Rounding out the Grand Prix classes on Sunday was the Grand Prix Special, with Matthew Dowsley riding Don Desandro placing first with a score of 65.20%, Alice Targa riding CP Dresden in second place on 64.90% and rounding out the top three was Jacqui Winspear riding JW Darjeeling.
