Talented black gelding DP Weltmieser and Brett Parbery seduce again in the Grand Prix Special

GRAND PRIX SPECIAL

For the second day of competition, Brett Parbery has once again ridden an accurate test (69.56%) to claim the 2015 Sydney CDI Grand Prix Special on another glorious sunny day at the Sydney International Equestrian Centre which brought fierce competition in all grades. “I was really happy. It is only the second special that DP Weltmieser has done and he was more focused today than in the Grand Prix yesterday and I probably got him more connected. He is just coming into another level now, we are trying to get the right balance between energy and concentration and we’ve been trying to build it up. I was thrilled with the job he did today,” said Parbery.

It was another successful day for the NSW rider who also won the FEI Intermediate B with his horse PPH Zeppelin with 66.92%.

Amongst 15 horses in the Grand Prix Special, South Australian rider John Thompson claimed second with his Hanoverian gelding Bates Antonello with 66.92%. 

The four time Olympian Mary Hanna produced a very polished test with her Dutch warmblood gelding Umbro for a creditable 66.47% and a close third. 

Another gifted result came from top FEI Young Rider Katharine Farrell from Galston (NSW). She rode a confident test with the imported 13 years old Arabian Warmblood/Hanoverian Luxor 118, for an overall score of 65.68% and fourth place.

Veteran New South Wales rider Heath Ryan claimed fifth place with the 11 year old Utopian Cardinal, son of his other horse in the competition Regardez Moi with whom he finished 8th.
