Update on Equestrian Australia Deed of Company Arrangement (‘DOCA’)

The Deed Administrators have made significant process in the implementation of the DOCA.

The Special General Meeting of EA was held on 15 September 2020, where the State Branches voted in favour of a new constitution to effect the ‘one member, one vote’ model. This is an exciting step for members, who will now be able to attend EA general meetings and democratically vote for the outcomes they desire.

In addition, the process of recruiting the First board of directors commenced in late August, and the Nominations Committee are now reviewing applications from 48 candidates. The Nominations Committee will conduct a series of candidate interviews in the coming weeks, after which recommendations for the board will be provided to the Deed Administrators.

The board of directors will be appointed by the Deed Administrators in October, and will continue the momentum for reform using the members’ input submitted to the Deed Administrators since June 2020.

Finally, the Deed Administrators are currently running a process to repay any outstanding creditors of EA, which will allow EA to have a fresh start after the Administration is complete. Sport Australia has provided confirmation it will not require repayment of its debt in accordance with the DOCA.
