Vale Jeepster

Stuart Tinney and Jeepster

Jeepster - Stuart Tinney's gold medal winning mount from the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games has been laid to rest at the age of 26.

With Tinney, Jeepster reached the highest levels of the sport, representing Australia overseas and in front of a roaring home crowd at Sydney’s 2000 Olympic Games.

Not only was Jeepster the best performing Australian horse in the team’s event at the Sydney Games, his unfailing performance across all phases saw him and Tinney finish on a score of  41.00 which was the lowest of any combination in the team’s event.

Four years later Jeepster returned to the Olympic arena, representing Australia in the team’s event at the Athens Games.

Jeepster’s other outstanding international results include finishing 1st in the 1997 Melbourne CCI3*, 2nd in the 2003 Adelaide International  CCI4* and 9th at the 1998 World Equestrian Games in Rome. Jeepster also enjoyed repeated success in the Lochinvar CCI3* winning the 1998 event and finishing second in the 2000 event.

In 2000, Jeepster was crowned NSW Eventing Horse of the Year.

Stuart forged a formidable partnership with Jeepster and he fondly remembers the horse that was very much a member of the Tinney family.

“Jeepster has been a great and loving friend for many years. We competed together all over the world for over 10 years with great results, culminating in his Olympic gold medal in Sydney.

Jeepster has been happily retired on our property for the past 7 years. Over the past few months he has been fighting Lymphoma.

Jeepster has been a very big part of our family’s life and we will miss him dearly,” Stuart said.
