Volunteer Week Profiles - Endurance

In celebration of Volunteer Week 2021, we have reached out to our discipline chairs, who give up their time as volunteers to fill these roles. We dug under the surface to discover more about these wonderful people who dedicate so much of their time to keeping our sport running.

Endurance Chair: Sonya Ryan

  • Apart from your role as an EA & FEI Official and Chair of National Endurance Committee, which in its self is a lot of volunteering, how else are you involved as a volunteer?

SR: I volunteer as Director for St Vicent De Paul and for Housing Queensland.

  • As Chair of National Endurance committee, why would you encourage people to get involved as a volunteer in equestrian sport?

ISR: It is a great way to give back and contribute to the wonderful sport of Endurance Riding to help others achieve their goals.

  • What has been one of your best experiences as a volunteer?

SR: Being part of a local Endurance Club for the past 25 years.

Lake Manchester Endurance Riders at the end of a successful event, that takes months of planning and hard work and receiving the thank yous from the participants.

  • Would you like to say anything particular to all the amazing volunteers in our sport?

SR: Your contributions are valued and much appreciated.
