WEG Wrap-Up: Results, Highlights and Looking Ahead
As the dust settles on the World Equestrian Games (WEG), the event has once again showcased the very best of equestrian sport on the world stage. Across all disciplines, athletes and horses delivered outstanding performances, demonstrating exceptional skill, determination and partnership under pressure. From personal bests and breakthrough results to hard-fought team performances, the championships provided plenty of memorable moments and valuable experience for competitors. We congratulate all participants on their achievements and look forward to building on these results as preparations begin for the next phase of international competition.

Veronica and Greg Steward appointed as Para Dressage Stewards for the 2026 World Championships in Aachen
Australian officials Veronica and Greg Steward have been appointed as Para Dressage Stewards for the FEI World Championships in Aachen in 2026, one of the most prestigious assignments on the international equestrian calendar, and the latest milestone in a stewarding partnership that has already taken them to a Paralympic Games.
Australian Official Emma Flegman Appointed to Ground Jury for FEI European Championships in Sweden
Queensland's Emma Flegman has been appointed to the Ground Jury for the FEI Eventing European Championship for Young Riders & Juniors 2026, to be held at Segersjö, Sweden, from 26–30 August 2026 — a significant honour that places an Australian official at the heart of one of the sport's premier youth events.

Coaching Update - August 2026
July was one of the busiest months of the year for the coaching team, with preparations for CANTER Con 2026 taking centre stage. Coordinating an event of this scale required extensive planning and collaboration to ensure presenters, delegates, resources and schedules were all in place to deliver a high-quality professional development experience.

It's encouraging to see so many members beginning their coaching journey and others continuing to progress through the pathway. The EA Coaching Framework provides a structured pathway from grassroots participation through to high-performance coaching and Coach Educator accreditation, ensuring coaches have the knowledge and skills to support both horse and athlete welfare at every stage.

Christmas is Coming-Time to buy a New Helmet?
Christmas is just around the corner—are you considering a new helmet?
As the holiday season quickly approaches, it’s important to be aware of the upcoming changes in accepted helmet standards for FEI and EA competitions. Whether you’re purchasing a new helmet for yourself or as a gift for someone special, we highly recommend reviewing the EA’s Helmet Standards and Tagging page before making your purchase.
As stated on the page, athletes are encouraged to upgrade to helmets that meet the EA standards effective January 1, 2029 (and FEI standards effective January 1, 2028) as soon as possible.
Incident reporting is getting faster — thank you
Reporting of serious incidents in competition is starting to flatten, which points to improving compliance, while reports outside competition have risen — partly thanks to incident reports now linking to insurance claims. Both trends are welcome: better reporting means we can support injured members, identify hazards and track the impact of safety changes. (Serious incidents by discipline show no major change on previous trends.)
