Introducing Equestrian Australia team member

Andrew Hamilton

GM - Business Operations and Integrity

What does your role entail?

Running the day-to-day operations, diversifying and increasing revenue opportunities, supporting and delivering value for the members, working with multiple stakeholders for the betterment of equestrian and the equine industry and collaborating specifically with the State Associations for the betterment of equestrian.

What’s the problem you most commonly solve in your role?

The ones that nobody else can!

If you could pick a superpower, what would you choose?

To be able to click my fingers and immediately fix many of the challenges that people have identified.

What’s your favourite horse breed and horse colour?

Chestnut - for the all-over consistency of the colour.

What’s your favourite equestrian discipline?

Show jumping. My first ever equestrian event that I attended was show jumping. I found it fascinating how almost the whole crowd would collectively hold their breath as each combination would attempt what was quite a challenging triple combination, you could feel the sense of relief for the few combinations that did manage to make it through clear.

What’s the coolest thing about your job?

The wonderful people that want me to get out of bed each day to make equestrian better than it was the previous day.

What is your equestrian background?

Aside from working at RDA (NSW) for 4 years, none. I have always worked in sporting organisations where I’ve had no direct background.

If you were an animal, what would you be and why?

A bird so that I can fly away.

What is the nerdiest thing you do in your free time?

House chores!
