Amber Fuller and CP Aretino Win First Australian FEI World Cup 2021

The first Australian FEI Jumping World Cup™ CSI1*-W competition for 2021 took place this weekend at Victoria’s PSI Dressage and Jumping with the Stars held at Werribee Park.

The competition saw 23 combinations all vying for the top spot over the David Shepard designed course but it was Amber Fuller and CP Aretino who took top honours with two clear rounds.

"It was fantastic to be back jumping at the top level again after a break due to Covid. We couldn’t have asked for a better show to step back into World Cup Qualifiers. I was thrilled with how my horse jumped today so thank you to the sponsors and organisers of PSI Dressage and Jumping with the Stars for a great weekend” said Amber.

There were only two double clear rounds throughout the competition, and the second was delivered by Gabrielle Chugg riding Cera Cassiago who claimed second place.

Tom McDermott riding Elegance De La Charmille rounded out the podium placings finishing in third with a clean first round and one rail in the second round,

PSI Dressage and Jumping with the Stars not only marked the official start of the Australian World Cup Jumping season, it also offered one of only two opportunities for Australian based combinations to achieve their Minimum Eligibility Requirement (MER) or Confirmation Result for the postponed Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

The next chance for riders to gain these requirements will be at Gatton World Cup in Queensland on 20th June 2021.

In addition, the qualification period for the FEI World Equestrian Games 2022 (WEG) has now begun. Therefore, all Australian outdoor World Cup Jumping competitions that take place throughout the 2020/2021 season will be qualification events for WEG 2022.
