COACHING UPDATE – JULY 2025
Coach renewals for the 2025–2026 season officially opened on 17 June 2025. It has been a busy and productive month processing the many renewals received, and the process is still ongoing. It’s been fantastic to see such strong engagement, with a large number of coaches affiliating with Equestrian Australia and supporting the EA Accredited Coach Pathway.
We are also pleased to welcome a number of new coaches to the EA Accredited Programme, as well as the return of a number of previously lapsed coaches. This positive trend reflects ongoing growth and renewed enthusiasm within the Australian coaching community.
Coach Review
Work has begun on the Coaching Review and Framework, which involves a comprehensive look into the current processes and content of the EA coaching pathway. The goal is to ensure the pathway remains relevant, effective, and supportive of coach development at all levels. A key part of the coaching review process is connecting face-to-face with coaches across the country to share insights, address challenges, and further develop coach education. Michelle Clough, EA Sports Development Officer, has attended various coach development days across multiple states as part of the coach review, Upcoming visits are planned for Queensland and Western Australia.
Sporting Schools – In addition, Equestrian Australia is working closely with the Australian Sports Commission’s Sporting Schools initiative to review the Ready Set Trot / Vault and Trot, Canter, Gallop programs. A dedicated working group has been established to support this review and provide input on the future direction of these important grassroots participation programs.
