Five EA Coaches attain Level 3 Status

For the first time in more than a decade Equestrian Australia has run a Level 3 coach accreditation course. Five of the candidates have been successful in achieving level 3 status.

Congratulations to the following individuals who have been elevated to level 3 status in their particular discipline:

Catherine Davies (Vic) Level 3 General

David Finch (Qld) Level 3 Jumping

Gina Haddad (NSW) Level 3 Eventing

Tarsha Hammond (NSW) Level 3 Eventing

Leanne Williams (Vic) Level 3 Dressage

Coaches achieved their accreditations after successfully fulfilling all components of the 2012/2013 Level 3 course.

The intensive seven month course required coaches to attend four training camps where they were put through their paces and were required to complete a series of individual and group assessments.

The course included:

  • Psychometric testing and interviews
  • Lectures by Australian Sports Commission (ASC) staff and invited experts
  • Specific in camp and distance learning tasks
  • Mentor, peer and self-assessment
  • Attendance at all scheduled training camps, the EA National Conference and an officiating component for their discipline

Coaches were also required to demonstrate their competence at coaching to the required standard according to their chosen discipline.

Based on the success of this course a second intake is planned for 2013-2014.
