Horse exhibition opens at National Museum of Australia

The National Museum of Australia’s Spirited: Australia’s horse story exhibition was officially opened on Friday, 12 September. Over 350 people attended, enjoying animal trainer Zelie Bullen’s moving launch speech, and take a first look at the show.

What is it that captivates us about a horse? Beauty, power, elegance, grace, gentleness, nobility, pride? Perhaps it is a combination of all of the above? But one thing I feel is certain. When treated with love, respect and understanding, the bonds that we humans are able to create with this magnificent creature, are totally spellbinding for so many of us.

Guests included Zelie Bullen, Olympian Neale Lavis, and campdrafter Ben Tapp.

The exhibition is now open at the Museum in Canberra until 9 March 2015. Find out more at nma.gov.au/spirited
