Invitation to Compete in Senior Rider Test as Part of Silver Fern Stakes at NZ Horse of the Year

Equestrian Australia has been invited to send a Senior Rider jumping team to New Zealand and compete in a Trans-Tasman Test as part of the Silver Fern Stakes at Horse of the Year Show 10 -15 March 2020.

Land Rover Horse of the Year is New Zealand’s premier equestrian show and this event will be a unique learning opportunity for our senior riders to compete as a team in a high stakes event. The Trans-Tasman aspect of the challenge will no doubt add a level of prestige and excitement to the atmosphere of the show.

The Silver Fern Stakes is to be held at the Land Rover Horse of the Year Show in Hastings on Friday 13th March 2020.  Further details of the event are as follows:

  • Event: Senior Rider Trans-Tasman Test (unofficial) on your own horses.
  • Team size: Four riders and one Chef d’Equipe.
  • Expenses covered by HOY: Premium Stabling and access to the VIP Marquee will be provided by HOY at no charge.
  • Class Height: 1.40m-1.60m.
  • Prize money for the class, which is an individual competition, in NZD: 1st $9000, 2nd $7000, 3rd $5000, 4th $4000, 5th $3000, 6th $3000, 7th $2500, 8th $2500, 9th $2000, 10th $2000.
  • Prize money for the winning team in the Trans-Tasman test still to be confirmed.

The Riders/Chef D’Equipe will be responsible for arranging return airfares, accommodation, and horse transportation/travel.
