Position available - Committee Liaison Manager

Equestrian Australia (EA) is the peak body for the administration of Equestrian Sport in Australia. The commitment to success is encouraged at every level of the sport and is reflected in world-class results at Olympic level.

To date, Australian Equestrians have won 9 Gold, 4 Silver and 8 Bronze medals at the Olympic & Paralympic Games. Our athletes have achieved great victories at peak international Equestrian events and as a result Australia has earned the reputation as an elite Equestrian nation.

Committee Liaison Manager Job Description

Reporting to: General Manager - Sport Operations

Direct Report: Committee Liaison Officer

Role Purpose:

  • To develop, lead and manage all governance and support for our national committees to ensure our disciplines and specialist areas are appropriately supported. To directly support the National Committees for our Olympic, and non-Olympic disciplines.

Responsibilities:

  • Review the existing committee support process and make recommendations regarding improvements
  • Create and maintain a support/governance strategy in line with our values and strategic objectives
  • Represent Equestrian Australia (EA) externally to enhance and strengthen our profile and optimise opportunities for the development and growth of equestrian sport
  • Implement and manage approved initiatives including budget, resources and time frames
  • Work collaboratively with the Committee Chairs to facilitate the smooth flow of information and recommendations to and from management, State Branches and the EA Board
  • Be the central liaison point for our Olympic Discipline Committees and non-Olympic Discipline Committees
  • Be the central liaison point for the FEI on all National Discipline Committee matters
  • Manage a team member who is responsible for providing administrative support to the National Discipline Committees and FEI events and provide guidance to enable their ongoing development
  • Respond to day to day queries and requests

Required Skills and Attributes:

  • A strong understanding of governance practices, preferably within a sporting organisation
  • Proven experience in managing complex administrative structures and processes
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, industry bodies and the member community to enhance and strengthen EA’s profile
  • Ability to moderate and negotiate to achieve amicable and productive outcomes
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to problem solve and use initiative
  • Possess a calm and confident manner, along with the ability to influence and persuade
  • Demonstrated ability to diligently manage a comprehensive schedule of committee meetings
  • An obsessive attention to detail with the ability to forward plan
  • Strong written communication skills with the ability to write accurate reports, minutes and compelling proposals
  • Proven ability to achieve success while ensuring appropriate regard to operational, legal, financial and reputational risk
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others to provide a high quality service
  • Ability to cope with high pressure, tight deadlines and multiple, competing priorities
  • A reliable team player with a hands-on, can-do ethos
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, as required, as some committee meetings are held at EA events and/or on a weekend
  • Equestrian knowledge will provide a distinct advantage. An interest in the development of equestrian sport is a must

Job Type: Full-time

Location: Can be office based at Homebush, Sydney or working remotely
