Parbery takes out Sydney's Grand Prix CDI3*

Shadow Trailers Grand Prix- CDI3*

The CDI Grand Prix with a field of 25 started at 11:20 am under a beautiful blue sky and a sunny day. Third to go Brett Parbery seduced the judges with his talented black gelding DP Weltmieser , owned by Susan Duddy, obtaining a mark of 69%.

It was a good day for the NSW rider who earlier in the day won the FEI Intermediate CDN with his horse PPH Zeppelin and came second in the Grand Prix CDN with Good as Gold.

Of his results on opening day, Parbery credited his horses and training.

I’m thrilled. The team of horses that I have are fantastic, I really believe in every one of them and they’re wonderful horses to have around.

“You’re always trying to be better. I wasn’t thrilled with the way that I rode them but they are good horses so they got me through.

“When you don’t ride at your best at a show it’s your training that gets you through. I knew I had been training quite well.

“The whole time we’re trying to train to Grand Prix and I believe every one of them is a Grand Prix horse,” he said.

Mary Hanna on her 14 year old gelding Umbro  received a score of 68.940  which put her on the second step of the podium.

The combination Judy Dierks and Diamond Star who won the Sydney CDI 3* Prix St Georges in 2014, pleased the public and scored 68.70% which saw them finish in third place.

New-Zealand rider Julie Brougham who scored 68.26% with her small but very impressive 12 year old gelding Vom Feinsten finished in fourth while the tall Luxor 118, ridden by Katharine Farrell arrived 5th with 68.20%.
