Equestrian Australia Board Announcement

Equestrian Australia is pleased to announce the National Board will be bolstered with the arrival of two new professional members. Catherine Friday fills the casual vacancy following the departure of Chris Styring, with Colin Chantler filling the casual vacancy following the departure of Leigh Clifford.

Catherine brings to the Board a considerable technical background with more than 20 years’ experience in risk consulting, internal audit, compliance and governance.  She has also lead Risk Transformation practices across Oceania before taking on her current market role with leading big four professional services firm, Ernst & Young. In addition, she is a Board member of Melbourne and Olympic Parks and a member of both EA and HRCAV, where along with her daughter, she is an active riding enthusiast. Previously, Catherine was actively involved in Pony Club and was the President of a NSW Club for a number of years. Catherine is a huge advocate of Equestrian sport and will bring her professional and personal experiences to the benefit of our community across Australia.

Colin, currently Chief of Operations at Bannister Downs Dairy, is also heavily involved in equestrian as a Director at West Coast Dressage. Having spent 30 years working for Coles in a variety of management positions, he brings to the Board a significant skill set in merchandising, marketing, strategy, customer service and systems development. A long time rider, supporter and administrator of equestrian, he was Chair of Equestrian WA for three years and is currently Vice Chair. As constitutionally required, Colin will be stepping down from this role with EWA to take up his new position on the EA Board.  He is passionate about Interschools and grass roots membership and is looking forward to the challenges and opportunities of being on the National Board.

Speaking of the appointments, Chair Judy Fasher said, “I welcome the skills of these new board members. EA seeks to reflect our membership categories and to represent all equestrian pursuits. We hope that Catherine and Colin will enjoy their contribution to the EA Board.”
