The first stage of Australia’s quest to win an elusive World Equestrian Games Gold medal commenced today with the six Australia-based short listed combinations commencing their pre-departure training camp at the Sydney International Equestrian Centre.
The six riders and horses are:

The squad will be under the guidance of National Eventing Coach Wayne Roycroft and Dressage Coach Harry Boldt who has been recruited specifically to work with the Australian Team for this WEG campaign. His expertise in dressage is a valuable and welcome addition to the team. Sam Lyle has been named as Assistant Coach and will work closely with Wayne Roycroft in guiding the team to what hopefully will be the first WEG medal for
This weekend the squad will compete at the Camden Horse Trials. Keith Parish and his Organising Committee have kindly made arrangements on Saturday afternoon for the squad members to complete the same 4-Star Dressage Test they will be required to perform at WEG. The Committee has also been good enough to cater for the specific requests of each of the squad members in the Cross-Country and Showjumping tests to allow them to prepare thoroughly and specifically for WEG.
The Camden Event will be a fantastic opportunity for Equestrian and Eventing supporters to see some of our leading riders and horses as they prepare for the biggest event on the Equestrian calendar. The 4-Star Dressage test will commence around 2pm on Saturday afternoon. The Cross-Country and Showjumping will take place on Sunday.
